Natalia Fernández is a movement artist, designer, and choreographer creating experimental performance work in NYC.
Her work investigates catharsis, memory, and the poetic textures of space/time and the expressive body. Natalia’s practice is rooted in the belief that movement is communication apart and beyond verbal language, and that abstraction can elicit experiences beyond the reach of words.
Approaching performance through image-crafting and world-building, Natalia oftentimes blends her design, writing, and visual arts backgrounds. She crafts textural scores, often side-stepping narrative. Her work has been described as “holding up a mirror” to its audiences and has been presented throughout New York City and beyond.
Natalia directs Processions Performance Lab, a collective rehearsing and performing explorations in dance theatre and performance art. Through Processions Performance Lab’s open workshops, Natalia welcomes community members into her dance-making and embodied thinking process.
Natalia earned a BFA in Product Design from Parsons School of Design in 2023, and trained in modern dance at the Limón Institute in NYC, immersing herself in the legacy of its namesake, José Limón.
