Glass, repurposed metal
ALTER is a sculptural meditation on the passage of time and the artifice and tensions inherent to crafting identity. Inspired by the double portrait, Los Angeles sunsets, and personal reflections on the self and the alter ego, this luminaire takes on a form that resists typification.
ALTER is envisioned as a fluid, commanding, and pseudo-living presence in a carefully crafted environment, so that the experience of sharing a room with this luminaire resembles sharing space with a sacred presence.

This luminaire was envisioned within a specific spatial context. Through my research I came across Jun Murata’s {JAM} 2019 Meditation Space for Creation in Beijing, China. I have digitally “installed” my luminaire and lighting design in these spaces through collaging.
JAM is not affiliated with this project.
This hall was imagined as an antechamber to the main room, where the luminaire is to be displayed.
